The therapists are highly trained, gracious and considerate in their attention to the specific needs of each guest, who are made to feel beautifully cared for. The initial footbath allows for a moment of quiet exchange, where you may engage in conversation with either your partner or, if you like, your masseuse, finding out about her, or learning a little more about your treatment and its traditional herbs and health benefits. We found this to be a particularly pleasant interlude that gave us a chance to connect with our therapists before the massage and body scrub ritual began. The traditional Balinese massage was delivered with a medium amount of pressure for me and a strong one for my partner, who found the knots and stresses in his shoulders and lower back melted under the firm manipulation of the male therapist.
