Bubba Gump is located right where you need it in the thick of the Kuta Shopping strip, near Waterbom, Discovery Mall and the many, many boutiques, gift shops and entertainment venues. It makes perfect sense after a day of vibrant consumerism or family fun at Waterbom to amp up the flagging energy with entry into this spacious Forrest Gump themed home-style family dining destination. Air-conditioned salons, open bars and a swathe of themed interiors provide choices for diners of all persuasions. For most it is only a short stroller ride home to the larger hotels on Jalan Kartika Plaza, and this has to contribute to the success of the venue, although a great deal more of its success can be attributed to the delightful staff who greet you and attend to even the most rambunctious of parties with a bouncing, happy-go-lucky attitude that could not possibly be faked.

From spicy bites as appetizers to grilled skewers, shrimp is big at Bubba Gump. But there is a grand selection of other dishes including burgers, chicken breast, steaks and full mahi-mahi fish dishes. The menu itself is a lively combination of what arrives at the table, with a good representation of the dish and a selection of Forrest Gump bon-motson life. The venue believes in Forrest, and the highly energetic staff engage in all sorts of entertaining rituals in response to orders placed and signs turned. Any order of a margarita summons up a lively chorus from a Kecak Dance, and throughout the evening we put our hands together for birthday celebrations and honeymooners. The food, despite this clamour, is not secondary to the entertainment. It is tasty honest fare just as Forrest and his mumma would like it. It celebrates easygoing cooking with a dash of spice or a splash of sauce, and ends with a soft key lime pie or a dish of ice cream that you could eat on your back porch in the summer.
