karma beach batu belig
the setting
Sitting right at the entrance tip of Batu Belig Beach, Karma Beach is hard to miss and passersby invariably take a gander or two. With bamboo structures and a well-lit, cosy atmosphere, the joint retains that unique touch of Karma Kandara’s famous Nammos Beach club. Ideally, Karma Beach welcomes those who’d like to play with waves for a while and then take respite at the snuggled huts on the far right side. Though it’s pretty new, we have to say that this joint is going to be heard about by word of mouth, and end up in Bali’s top list of beachfront dining destinations.
the food
Karma Beach doesn’t rest on its laurels just because it’s set on a less populated beach with all the right elements. No. The food here has been whipped up with flair, making sure that you can wet your whistle and sate your appetite in five-star style – albeit while wearing flip-flops (hopefully by Prada). The menu does distinguish itself mostly from those at other Karma resorts, and we had the pleasure of first sampling the refined Karma Beach martini, oozing swirling orange zest – so refreshing after a dip in the water. Soon after came the Mediterranean plate that whetted our appetite instantly with its tasty humus and hot salami, plus a lot more on one massive plate.
The real deal at Karma Beach Batu Belig, we have to admit, is none other than the seafood platter. Served either hot or cold – the choice is yours – the lobsters were so delectable, seasoned to perfection, that we didn’t bother to look up or talk to anyone, focusing only on savouring the delicate, juicy white meat instead. It’s finger-licking good, and the lobsters are said to be the bestseller at the newly opened joint.
the unique
There’s so much going for the Karma Beach Batu Belig, from its spontaneous feel and its location at a surf beach to its excellent food. Its difference to Nammos is apparent, since without any admission fee you get crowds from all walks of life bumping shoulders with each other. The ultimate treat none of us should ever miss out on here is the 16-bottle wine dispenser, which stands as the biggest ever installed in the country. Grab a glass and press the button and the wine will flow automatically. Easy, quick and splendid. That’s what Karma Beach is all about.
