wayan sila paintingUbud – Celebrating his 10th year of painting, Wayan Sila will hold a solo exhibition titled 'Treasure' at Maya Ubud Resort & Spa from April 27 – May 7, 2007.

30 of his paintings will be presented along with beautiful poetry and verse written by Yoko Miyasaki.

Wayan Sila studied Balinese painting, using motifs of barong and arja dance. A grandson of the well known Balinese painter I Wayan Barwa, he creates a magical fantsy world of owls, lights and forests.

His painting career really began after visiting Japan in 1997 for his Owl Exhibition.

His dream become reality in the year of 2007, since he is now able to always combine his work with poetry that can express the meaning of each painting he creates. Yoko Miyazaki compliments Wayan's paintings with sublime verse. The poems were translated into English by Thomas R. Walker, a long time American resided in Japan.

Keep your dreams - and they will live on as tiny jewels of joy in the heart.

Two Women - Two Different Paths – One Single Destination
Yenny Yohan and Yasco Kanehira

The art of Yasco Kanehira of Japan and Yenny Yohan of Indonesia, both originate in an intuitive world of feelings. Yohan, freely admits that her work depends on her emotional state. 'If I do not feel good', she says, 'I cannot paint'. This is especially clear in two of her latest works, 'Reflections', which is an exploration of the state of happiness from which she paints, and 'Wishful Thinking' with its golden hues, about her secret longings. Notably she chooses to express her inner self through abstract images that stimulate our imaginations as well.

Yasco's works are no less enigmatic although she provides us with many more clues found in her titles, stylized images of real objects and graffiti-like inscriptions on her canvasses such as Buried Under a Tree. This painting is dominated by a detail of a large black tree trunk with the bottoms of two arms like branches. 'Grandpa's Secrets' and 'Secrets', of course referring to what is under the tree, are clearly written on the upper left hand branch and a box in the shocking turquoise background.

The paintings of both artists are noteworthy.
