5000 KECAK!
Tanah Lot on Friday, September 29th
A massive 5000 strong Kecak performance for peace. Called Cakosal it
drew performers and visitors from all over Bali. The energy was amazing
and together with the huge Dewasaraya Ceremonies at Kintamani it bodes
well for continued peace in Bali. Organised by the Bali Tourism Board
in conjunction with Garuda Indonesia amongst others it should help to
keep
Bali in the news.
Breeze Restaurant
at Samaya Villas in Seminyak
Breakfast on the beach? Lunch, dinner, sunset? The new Breeze Restaurant
at Samaya at the hot end of Seminyak is one of the nicest places on
the beach. Cool, definitely breezy, minimalist décor, it is simply
a pleasant place to spend time – any time of day. Comfortable chairs
and sofas right
by the beach and you can sit and sip while watching the waves –
so relaxing.
Restaurant opens from 7am until midnight, led by chef, Torsten Schubert,
who offers a blend of American and European dishes. They have something
as simple as a club sandwiched to the roasted lamb loin with crispy potato
crust on forest mushroom and tow-coloured capsicum sauce. Also Mexican
Style barbequed salmon with curried corn sauce and baked courgette tacos.
The chef's 'Island Favorites' section includes Sate
Campur, Nasi Goreng and Pepes Ikan – all at very reasonable price.
A comprehensive wine list is complemented with the newly built-air-conditioned wine cellar which allows guests to inspect bottles before they order. At least 100 wines will be available at very conservative prices and guests will have the advantage of referring to rating keys, using Australia's best-known wine educator, judges and writers who have adopted an unambiguous scoring system but who are not associates with any wine producers or distributors. Whisky connoisseurs will definitely delighted to know that at Breeze there are 12 types available; including 8 single-malt whiskies.
TENNIS ACTION IN BALI
Wismilak International Women's Tennis Tournament
(September 11-17)
The efforts of keeping the beauty & magic of Bali in the world's spotlight are countless... in the past months Bali has been in the headlines of many international press releases: the summer party seasons at various locations with international artists from the music scene, the cultural festivals in Ubud, the constant property & development ads and also the social & communal aspect of Bali haven't been left out… In the sports field, Bali's residents have had the opportunities to be part of global events reaching from surfing to golf to jet-skiing to tennis and many more.
Whoever had the opportunity to attend the Wismilak International women's tennis tournament definitely had an exciting time! To watch superb ladies' tennis life on the grounds of Nusa Dua's Hyatt Hotel was simply jaw ropping. Even more so when you got to see the player's list: world ranked top athletes were spotted in Bali for more than a week. Who thinks about meeting Svetlana Kuznetsova from Russia on a stroll at the beach just days before fighting a tough match to win her singles title with a price money of US 225.000,- against France's 27th ranked Marion Bartoli?! It's quite a scene when top-seated players are spotted in traditional Balinese kebayas & sarongs. This was the case at the official opening ceremony where each player received a holy blessing from several priests of the neighboring villages. In line was Lindsay Davenport together with her doubles partner Corina Morariu, Patty Shnyder, Natalie Grandin & Trudi Musgrave, Japanese Akiko Morigami and Daniela Hantuchova and many more! For some of these talented, young ladies, the Gods must have been on the lighter side – winning the finals were Svetlana Kuznetsova (her third Wismilak International title in Bali. She won 7-5 / 6-2 against Marion Bartoli) and on the doubles side, Lindsay Davenport and partner Corina Morariu took the trophy home against a quick yet challenging match against Natalie Grandin from South Africa and her partner Trudi Musgrave from Australia.
All organizers, sponsors and volunteers have done a magnificent job in this year's Wismilak International tennis week in Bali. All in all, the week of amazing tennis & great sports people was definitely a success! Make sure that you mark your calendar next year to not miss this event!!!
